Default jaguar needs to come back with something like the X-Type

Jaguar needs to come out with something below the XF. Almost like a second generation X-Type. Something to compete with a 3 series and be AWD with a 4 cylinder turbo and V6 options. Jaguar needs to do it right the second time around though.

I think the XF is pretty much the bottom of the heap for now.... In stripped down form they are fairly cheap.. Sadly no AWD though. Which is a dream killer for me.

Great psychology...

Almost as smart as the Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr. Ralf Speth, talking about New baby Jaguar will not be another X-Type - Latest car stories - MSN Cars UK;

“We try not to do every mistake twice,” he told MSN Cars. “We learn and listen.” The firm will not be making the same mistake again, said Dr. Speth.

And this clever chap;

“Customers liked the X-Type but brand loyalists did not,” said Jaguar brand director Adrian Hallmark. “It was a very polarising car”.

HELLO?????

From what I can tell, anticipate the F-Type to be coming out either summer of 2013 or sometime in 2014. That is going to be essentially a scaled down version of the XK (like how the X-Type was a smaller version of the XJ). It is going to be more of a sporty 2 seater, but will probably have a rear seat, though it won't be useful for much. But, this is just me looking into my crystal ball and seeing what I can see.

I have never seen anything written about the F-Type being awd or a four seater. Where was that written? I thought the F-Type was to compete with the Porsche Boxster.

I base my information off of articles that I have read on the internet from various car mags and the pictures of the car that they are testing. Now, this car does not have the final body design (also is in a car wrap covered in "F"s), but if you look at how Jaguar is currently styling the bodies of their cars and take away some of the extra "fluf", it is going to have a body similar to the 2010 XK. The article went on to say that the F-Type is getting a supercharged 3.0L motor making "the most HP per liter of any Jaguar engine ever". Later on they quote that being 130 hp/liter. So, it would be safe to say that the engine is going to be up in the 375-400 hp range. Also, looking at the pics, you can see that the car is a 2 door version. Based on current car trends and whatnot and also looking at the XK, the back seat is more of a good idea than anything. But, it will be coming out as a convertible though. So, that should be fun.

I find that you have to read multiple articles, see what is common between them and then read between the lines to figure out what the rest of the story is.

UPDATE 08/10/2012: Jaguar has officially confirmed that the new F-Type roadster will be making its world debut at the Paris Motor Show on September 27, 2012. The model will be offered with a choice of three engines: Jaguar’s all-new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine with an output of either 340 or 380 HP and the existing supercharged 5.0-liter V8. All engine options will drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission and will be equipped with Stop/Start technology. Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars, said: "The unveiling of the F-TYPE in Paris will be a truly significant day in Jaguar’s history as it will mark the company’s return to the sports car market, a market it originally helped to create."
