Default Jaguar X-Type - Speedometer rewinding?

Hi there, I'm thinking about buying a Jaguar X-Type, and the one I am looking at has low mileage for its age (56,000 kilometers on a 2005 model). Unfortunately, the service book has been replaced and shows only 2 entries, the last back in 2006 at 40,000km. The car originated in Belgium (I am based in Prague), so my question is, can the X-Type speedometer be rewound?

Anything is possible, but most vehicles these day store the mileage in various places
IE: head unit + ecu + headlight ecu. They then have a check number to make sure all the components match

Tony, also, a lot of places are now recording the mileage at various times in the cars life. So, if you can see where the mileage has been tampered with, then it would be a good car to simply walk away from as they are hiding other issues. Keep in mind that the mileage is stored in both the instrument cluster and the ECU (and I am sure a few other not so obvious places) to prevent people from messing with the ODO. If the car senses that the ODO has been messed with, then it will start triggering codes and whatnot from my understanding.

Thanks for the input, so another question came to mind, as I contacted the last Jaguar garage in Belgium to check and see if they had any further information, and they said it had 56,250km back in 2011 when they last saw it, and oddly enough, that is what is on the speedometer (give or take a few kilometers) right now.... so can the speedo be disconnected?

Secondly, how easy is it to check the ECU for the mileage?

Checking the ECU mileage requires a high end dealership level computer to do. If you are interested in this car, this sounds like something that I would say to tell the seller that you will buy the car once you have an inspection done at a dealership. If they agree, then the dealership will see that in no time. May cost you a little bit of money, but then, it will also put your mind at ease.
