Im from Cheshire,
I own a 56 plate jag x type 2.0 TD,
and ive owned it for 8 months,
the car has been superb up until last week,
i got up to take a friend to the airport at 4am and when the car started the wasn’t it’s usually self (running a little rough) and the engine management light stayed on a little longer then ever before then it all seemed to settle/ engine light went off,
i got to my friends around the corner and loaded up the car while it was still running. We set off to the airport and 5 mins in to the journey the car had no acceleration and then judder for a couple of seconds then died on me!!! so I tried to start the car again and she was turning over but just wouldn’t kick on and start! And the engine management light is now on all the time.
I then waited 4 hours for the AA guy and he plugged in his diagnostics machine in and it came up with the code for fuel pump issue. So I got it towed to a garage.
So the mechanic has done some tests to make sure it’s the fuel pump as it an expensive job,
and he seems to think it could be more electrical fault...
and he tells me this after a few tests ...
-the pressure in the system is high one test then lower the next test on the pump ...
- the injectors are showing a low live feed to them ...
- we have changed the crankshaft sensor ...
- the fuses have been checked...
is he over thinking things and if the diagnostic says fuel pump is it that? or could it be an ecu issue ? or an injection problem ? Or a cracked wire or a relay ? I’m in need of my car badly and this has been going on for a week now and I still haven’t had anyone pin point the issue .. any help on this guys would be fantastic and greatly appreciate.
