Jaguar X Type transmission HELP
What is the difference in having the transmission in sport and regular ? Tried it and I couldn't really tell the difference. Do I have to drive the car a certain way to feel the difference ?
NeWB, the "Sport Mode" is simply altered shift points for the car. The amount of the shift is relative to the amount that the gas pedal is depressed. So, for normal driving, the difference may be say 200 RPM difference (again, depends on how you drive and how far the pedal is depressed). But, if you are getting on the gas really hard, plan on the computer holding the gear till you are near redline and then it taking the tranny to the next gear.
I have had mine in "Sport Mode" for quite awhile now and haven't noticed anything different about it. Granted, it is nice to know that when I want the car to get up and move, it will have a bit more umpf to it since these motors are more of a higher RPM power type of motor. It is especially true with the 2.5L motor, not as much with the 3.0L motor.
