Any other members with the 'Alcantra suede' and carbon fiber X-types?
i'm just curious, i recently bought a pre-owned 2006 special 'sport edition x-type. it is black-on-black with bodykit, carbon fiber interior and the suede inserts. is there anything else 'special' about this edition? any known problems? i owned a 2002 back in the day when they first came out and had TONS of problems with her. all the reviews i've found say that from 2005-on that the x-types are pretty flawless...
thoughts?
thanks everyone!

I was also one of the first x-type owners to successfully install a mazda 6 ECU upgrade into the x-type, had the HORRIFICALLY awful Jaguar XP.com intake, and a borla exhaust.
i will post pix when she arrives in 5 days.
I'm so excited! most beautiful x-type I've seen 'stock.'

I have seen a black '05 Sport with the Alcantara inserts in the seats and carbon fiber trim. I wasn't a big fan of the carbon fiber in the X-Type, but the Alcantara looked nice. The door panels looked rather plain in this car, as they didn't have any carbon fiber trim on them. Everything else, seemed to be the stock sport setup to me, the spoiler and everything looked the same.
Same as yours just in silver, with rims, and upgraded audio. Great cars, get a ton of comments, only wish mine was a stick.
I took the front lip off cause it acts like a plow in the winter time...... replaced it twice before i learned my lesson.

Can someone upload pics of the carbon fiber interior? I would love to upgrade mine but id like to see what it looks like first. I have a 2002 X-type sport. Black on black and have some mods in mind.
Thanks all!!
Thanks all!!

The Mazda 6 V6 ECU appears to be no different (at least it wasn't on my 2002)
We successfully were able to use the Mazda 6 power program from CP-E performance(i'm not even sure they make parts anymore..) and hooked the jag up to a laptop, downloaded the program, then we plugged in a DYNOMAX wideband 02 tuner and drove the car to tune air/fuels. picked up 13hp to the wheels. added a custom cold air intake, TRUE cold air, that reached into the lower vent of the car and added an additional +5 for a total of +18hp and 14lbs torque. granted i also had a resonator delete and 2.5" custom exhaust put in from the cats back to the Borla axle-back system. the next mod was a valve-body re-work which was AWESOME! CPE did this swap as well. again, Mazda6. car pulled hard, until the tranny failed 3,000miles later!!! fortunately back then there was a TSB on the tranny and it was replaced at no cost!!! sold the car 6months later.
i now have a 2006 x-type sport. here's the embarrassing-looking 2002: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/225379...s-moines-ia-us
keep in mind, i used it to do road race events. the KW coilovers were AMAZING, but the roughest ride EVER!!!! totally gutted and eventually had a rollcage in her too.

Awesome! So glad to see somebody else on here that REALLY drives their car.
I'm going to be doing some of those same mods myself. What is the valve rework? Are you talking in the tranny or something else? Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.
