Default Just bought an '02 X-Type. What should I do as soon as I get it?

Hi guys -
I just purchased an '02 2.5L Manual X-Type. It was a one owner vehicle, and seems to be well taken care of and in great shape. It has 151,000 miles. After browsing for a couple days, I'm starting to get a feel for the types of common issues and things I might encounter. That being said, are there some things I should do immediately after getting it in my driveway (transfer case fluid?) Below I've included all the info from the CarFax about service performed, so you guys can let me know what you think I should do or watch out for. Any help is appreciated.

I would service the transfer case, rear diff, fresh oil, flush and fill the cooling system and do a full tune up and fuel filter replacement.

+1 Should have seen a rear diff fluid change in there. TC drain and fill is up to you but recommend it. Probably won't notice anything draining from it but there could still be about 200 ml of old stuff in there. So, put in 450 ml, run it for a while and then drain again and put in another 450. Then at least you'll know you've got a full TC with a lot cleaner fluid in it.

Would any of you guys happen to know off-hand what type of fluid I'll need for the transfer case/rear diff? I can search around if not, no big deal.

Stalube from Napa is pretty high on most people's list. A 2 quart container is enough to do the transfer and the tranny. The rear dif takes a different weight if I remember right. You'll want to do a search on doing the tranfercase as it has no fill hole, you need to come up with a way to fill it with the proper amount in the drain hole, then close it without loosing it. Wildbill sells a kit which I did get and it works pretty good, although it is a very tight fit on the manual tranny to get the stuff on so I made a mess the first time.

I was planning on taking the car in to a local foreign car specialist repair shop. Would they be able to do the transfer case drain and fill with no problems or will I need to get something like that kit and bring it for them? I'm not a car expert by any means.

Well I'm sure they can but remember you're paying what $70 an hour or so right. Wildbills kit is like $125. If they don't have everything they need there you would be hardpressed to make a suitable devise in an hour plus parts.
