MUST the battery come from a dealer?

no. you can get one at a store like walmart or batteries plus.

just changed mine about a month ago! Simple to open and change - because with the inside circuit and your screwdriver!

Actually, you can get the Jaguar OEM battery at the dealer. They cost about $34.95 and usually they have to order them, but in the meantime they will give you a loaner fob.
