If you happen to have a replacement Key Fob that has the push button logo that is of the painted Jaguar face (common with X and S type Key Fob remotes) vs the metal jaguar face (common with our XJ8) but the painted face is scratching off from use...very common problem.
I have not found a China source willing to sell just the key fob logo instead of the whole key fob, so here is a very nice alternative to make your key fob logo look new again.
Simply buy tire valve caps off Ebay and with a very very small screw driver pry up the sticker slow and carefully and it will unglue from the metal tire valve cap, then I used a little 3M contact cement with a small brush and put a very tinny amount on the fob button and on the logo back and then simply made sure the logo was stright up with the key fob closed and pushed down. The logo will perfectly center itself as it is perfectly slighly smaller than the round hole in the plastic part of the keyfob. Press, hold a litttle, and then done! Great looking key fob once again. And there are even a few choices of jaguar logos to choose from to mark your key fob your own custom key fob!
Good tip. On another note (related) My key fob was playing up. It would do everything except unlock the car. I changed the battery and no joy so i called Jag. They told me that it was a common fault and that i would need a new fob. The cost including programming was £155. I told them that i would sort it myself. I opened the fob up and soon realised that the rubber nipple that pushed against the 'open' part of the fob was warn down. I went to ebay and bought a replacement rubber part that cost me £4 delivered first class. The key is as good as new. Glad i didn't give in to the dealership!
