Default Key issues 2002 xtype

I have an old worn down key that stopped working in the ignition, bought a new steering column with ignition and key. I've been told I now need the new key reprogrammed, and am having trouble finding someone in my area who can reprogram it for me. Dealerships arent too close to me so was looking for other options. Also, they will be able to program my new key from my old one correct?

Why didn't you just get a key blank cut to your old key and replace the old key. That way you would not have to have it programmed.

Well, because I'm a noob and didn't look into it really. Had a good opportunity to buy the jag cheap, and jumped on board hah. Good news though Roger (since you're the only one responding to me really hah...). Got all key issues solved, got it jacked up and ready to replace radiator, which I already have. Only thing left I need is a water pump tensioner pulley and belt. Any tips on where to get one fairly cheap?

RockAuto has the belt for less than $6, three choices of pulley for $12-17.
