Question Knock Sensor Location?

Can anyone tell me exactly where the knock sensor is located on a 2004 Jaguar X-Type 3.0L Petrol?

The link Dell shared walks you through it and what you'll encounter. Short answer, it is in the valley under the manifold and plenums snugged next to metal coolant outlet pipe.

Thanks to Dell and ugotmale I found where the knock sensor is "supposed" to be. I found the treaded hole on the left side of the top of the engine. I am not sure why it was removed but, since I am getting a DTC referencing it, I will try and replace it. I have an unconnected plug that must have been used to connect it previously. I am so glad I joined this forum because I have gotten so much help and guidance from member responses!

That doesn’t entirely surprise me. Because it is such a pain to get to and get out, it is not unusual for someone (previous owner) to relocate the knock sensor to a vacant threaded hole on the block. I don’t remember where it is, I just did the work to wiggle mine out. There’s a write up in the forum about where to relocate the sensor. Otherwise trace the connector wire, it’s got to be plugged into something. If it’s not, well, that’s really odd and unexpected.

Who ever worked on this car did a lot of things that should not have been done, too many short cuts. The self leveling headlight mechanisms had been removed at some point although they may not have worked properly. I had an 88 XJ6 that had self leveling read suspension and, when I asked the dealer about it, he said it didn't work right and they disabled it on a lot of those models.

Well you definitely in the right place. This forum will practically answer all your questions. If not, there’s someone here that can.
