Leakage
I have a 2002 X-type. Lately I have noticed that my fan is running 10 minutes after I turn off the car. I have to continually add coolant to the car. I spoke to someone, and they suggested that I add some Stop leak to the car. I cannot find where the radiator fluid goes. I was told to put it the stop leak, where I put the coolant. Is this correct?

Tonya. please do not use a stop leak product. You might end up costing you more in the long run. If you are having to add coolant it is leaking somewhere. Probably the two most common causes are the water pump or at the overflow tank. The plastic is know to become brittle and break at one of the connections. As a matter of fact, I just replaced mine this week. Saw a puddle under the front driver's side of the car (left hand drive). Turns out the nipple broke on the tank and the coolant dripped down onto the splash guard and worked it's way to the front of the car. The water pump seems to fail at about 100K on our car. Hope you can find the leak soon and get it fixed, as the fans should not run that long. No one wants to ever spend money, but if you fix it now you will be more than likely saving money in the long run. Good luck!
