Default LED brake lights

I want to install LED brake and turn signal lights on my car, but i heard that some people have problems and need to install additional resistors on some cars to make them work properly. Has anyone on here ever switched their bulbs with LED alternatives on their xtype? ? Was it plug and play or did you have to change the relays? success/failure??

No experience of fitting to a car, but have fitted to one of my bikes. No issue with the brake light but did have to change the flasher relay. Could have fitted resitors but a 'digital' relay semed a more professional fix.

Never done anything like that to a car...let alone the jag! But I did have them on my bike as well...I replaced the stock blinkers with led flushmounts and rear integrated taillights and without relay the lights blink really fast. Not sure how they'd work...more than likely you wouldn't need a relay as you'd be taking power off the stock lights and stock blinkers front and rear are still being used which would keep the power pulling off the blinkers. Leds take very little power which is why you need the relay when you are replacing the blinkers on a motorcycle, but I'd imagine with already having the blinkers and what not hooked up you wouldn't need it (maybe maybe not???) I wanted a set of those side mirrors with the blinkers built in like the beemers have for the jag...has anyone else ever done this???

Yea, i think im gong to get the brake lights first. I heard they are usually pain free but the blinkers are the main headache. I have no problem installing wiring b/c im an electrical technician by trade, i just dont know where the relays go on the car

The LED's look alot classier and more modern than conventional ones

I like LEDs too . Also, they "turn red" more quickly than the conventional lamps when you step on the brake .

yea i saw some add that did the math, and at 60mph it adds to an additional 14 feet of reaction time for the person behind you. Not that i give a ****, i just want it to look sexier. Maybe i should just install Bucks exhaust tips instead LOL

To run LED's in any part of the system you have to install resistors (the kludge fix) or have the relay reworked to accept the different resistance.

If you choose the resistor route, here's how to do it: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282805

This has been a well intended, but worthless argument for as long as the led's have been around because even though they turn red 500ths of a second quicker, the a-hole behind you still won't hit his brakes until he is 1/2 inch from your bumper [:@]
