Default led tail light issue

i know, this post is worthless with out pics. never the less, i have changed out all of my light bulbs on my Jag for LED's (thanks H2O) and i noticed something the other day. My tail lights stay "on" very low when the car is running. they will stay lite even if the headlights are not on. when would this be? none of the other lights do this just the tail lights on the very top of the rear assembly.

Sounds like you might have a ground problem in the system......

Try this first, put the original lights back in.....if the original lights stay off, it's the LED's. They must have a low impedance that some current is passing thru, causing the LED's to light up.

I remember one of my installations (cant recall which one) stayed on dimly after turning off...I thought it was just me doing something wrong. Try a larger resistor perhaps? (double it). The LED obviously illuminates using less power than a standard halogen. My guess is that there is still some juice running thru the power wire (I recommend you test w/ a voltmeter to be sure). If you put a larger resistor on the wire, it should 'absorb' the latent current w/o any other ill effects.

It causes no harm to the car by having the LED operate on the current if it is truly there by design, but is this the brake bulb, tail, or turn signal that you are talking about?

w/o resistors, you should be getting a fast blink rate on your indicators, at least inside on the dash. You getting that?

My guess is a resistor installed will correct your 'dim' status when off, if you want to.

it is the stop light. i did have the fast blinking this with the blinkers and i put resistors on those. should i slap a set on the tail lights? oh and it is only the brake lights that are doing it...

I would put a resistor on the tail lamps also. I'm surprised you haven't gotten a 'check rear lights' MIL

On my brake bulbs, they are two-purpose, slightly on with headlights on, and then full illumination for braking. On this same circuit I had to put two resistors in parallel to prevent the MIL from popping up.
