Lenses/housings
Im sorry...I am sure this has been beat to death but My 2004 needs new headlight lenses. They are hard to find here and very expensive. Apparently HID lowbeams were an option in the xtype and the housings are different depending on the option. How would I know if my car came with HID lights....there is no sticker on the door jam stating so. The other question is if I find new lenses that are not HID is that a big deal? I would just use halogen bulbs. The existing lenses look to be projector style. Any help would be appreciated.
First, the HID and “normal” headlamps look the same but they are NOT interchangeable. And you cannot use normal halogen bulbs in the HID version. There will be a sticker in the engine compartment near the headlamps, I think, if the car has the HID units. Few of the X-Types were sold in Canada with the HID units, so you probably don’t have them.

further investigation has the xenon ballasts under the covers. The drivers side housing is smashed and i would not have known what was in there so i took the passenger side apart and there it is. Now....can I use the wiring and simply replace the lenses and bulbs to regular halogen...Yes....i understand that i would have to change harnasses.

I'm sure the OEM HID's were the best choice and nothing I could do would match them.

My issue is still getting new housings.
The H1 (halogen) bulbs don't work all that well in the projectors. I tried the 100W hella H1's with better results. But in the end, the Chinese H1 HID replacements were the best with regard to light output. I purchased the Xentec brand from Ebay for about $35 for two 5000K H1 HID bulbs and ballasts.
