Default LIMP MODE

2003 X type, code 1229, also in limp mode. Replace throttle pedal, did adaptations, cleared codes. Car now idles fine, no check engine light, no codes, except the P1000 readiness code. Limp mode light on, no throttle response and no codes. I saw it is a possible relay fault so I am going to switch the relay.

Possible causes

  • Faulty Throttle Motor
  • Faulty Throttle Motor Relay
  • Throttle Motor harness is open or shorted
  • Throttle Motor circuit poor electrical connection

Installed known good throttle body from a running car, new relay, reset adaptations for throttle pedal and cleared codes. Now car starts and idles great, has some throttle response up to about 1200 rpm's, NO CODES, but still has limp mode lamp illuminated. Is there a possible transmission code that is causing this? My code reader is generic, have Autologic available if needed.
