Losing Radio output to speakers
My 2003 X-Type has the original head unit with Nav. The Radio is starting to cut out in all speakers except for the rear passenger. I have worked the connections in the back so nothing is loose. The speakers work fine, but nothing is going to them.
Has someone had this problem or could tell me if this is common with the head units with Nav/
I do have the ACM but will pull it ASAP so I get back the Nav audio.
Looking for any information anyone has.

Are you really sure the speakers are working? What system do you have, is it the Advent one? If so there is a common problem with the speakers falling apart. The glue that secures the magnet to the cone ages and looses its "stickiness" and the magnets fall off. Happened to me, one day noticed that I seemed to be only getting sound out from the one on the driver's door. Dealer replaced 3 failed speakers under warranty.

Remove the speakers and measure the coil resistance with an ohm meter to see if the connector is bad. Then measure to braided wires to the voice coil.
You will probably see that the coil is OK but the connector has lost continuity where the wire is staked to the melted plastic bridge (sometimes only ONE).
The speakers are about $70 each and I have replaced a bunch. I saved a few to see what failed and found that all but a few could be repaired with a soldered wire from the connector to the braided voice coil wire. Some just could NOT be saved.
I have had good luck winding a small piece of wire around the braided wire and soldering it to the connector terminal (a bridge circuit).
I don't know how long it will last with the movement of the wire and cone so it might get brittle and break eventually.
Try it before you throw the speaker in the trash.

I had the same problem with some speakers in the rear door. the speaker looked fine but when i took it out one magnet fell inside door and the other magnet was on its way off. i just re attached the magnets with gorilla glue and secured the magnets in place with 12 guage speaker wire. the only reason i went this route was because the cone and surrounding areas was in good condition. i did this fix 6 months ago and the speakers still sound excellent.
