Loss of power after Intake Gaset change
2002 Jaguar X Type 2.5L: The car ran good but needed new spark plugs. I did all of the Intake Plenum removal stuff and when I pulled the spark plugs from cylinders 1, 3 and 5, the plug tubes had oil in them. I cleaned the oil from the tubes, plugs and coils and insatalled the new plugs and put everything back together, but I reused the Plenum gaskets cause the auto stores didn't have any. When I started the car, it revved high (about 2200 rpm) and sometimes go down to about 1200 rpm and then back up again. I got 9 codes: PO300 (random misfire), PO302 PO304 PO306 (cylinder misfires), PO430 (CAT system), PO456 (Evap Emission leak), P1316 (accompanied by cylinder misfire), P1229 (Fuel system over pressure issue) and P1000 (Emission readiness test not completed). I proceeded to drive the car down my street and it hardly would go, no matter how much I accelerated, so I backed it in the driveway and shut it off. The cooling fan ran for a long time as the coolant temperature rose some (not into the red). I cleared all the codes with my scanner. The following day I took it apart again and there was no oil in the spark plug tubes or on the plugs.I installed new coils for the cylinders that were misfiring in case the oil that was in the tubes previosely had damaged them - I used NGK brand. I put it all together, thinking the problem would be solved but ended up with the same result. I scanne it again, to see what codes were there now and the misfire codes are gone, but now I have other codes: P0102 (Mass Air Flow), PO112 (Intake Air Temp Sensor), PO117 (Engine Coolant Temp Circuit), PO122 (TPS Circuit low - A), PO222 (TPS Circuit - B), P1108 (MAP or BARO sensor circuit - specifically a high voltage reading) and P1000 again. Again, the car ran good before doing this, just needed new spark plugs. It is apparent that I did something to cause this, but I have no idea what. I went over everyting many times and I connected all the wires and vacuume hoses correctly. I;m going to have to have it towed to the shop if I can't get this figured out. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.realize this posting is lengthy, but I wanted to give as much info that I have.
It would not hurt, if you would double check, if you reconnecte4d all the plugs, which you had to disconnect to get the air-intake off.
Specifically I am thinking of the connector to the throttle body control motor.
But double check also the MAF sensor connector, all other connectors, and if you reinserted all vacuum lines and that you did not squash one of the vac.-lines when re-mounting the air-intake.

Thanks for your answer, Peter. I did check the wires I had disconnected and found that I did not plug in the wires that go to the throttle body, just under the rubber boot that connects the air intake to the throttle body - a 2 prong connection with a red wire and a green wire. The reason I missed it is because there is no plug, just the 2 wires. It looks like the plug was brittle and broke away but thew wires still have the connection tips on them. And the female connection (located on the black piece (MAF sensor) is still good. I nee to get a new pigtail for that but I don't know what the name of it is. Can you tell me?
Ha! Bull's eye!
So I was spot on with the connector to the throttle body control motor - my first guess.
And guess what: I faced the exact same issue not long ago - just not on an X-Type, but an S-Type, but in this case it's the same thing. My male plug end (the one attached to the harness) had vaporized and I had similar failure codes after actually not forgetting to plug the connector in, but after attempting to use a generic connector, which in the end did not make contact.
Here is how I fixed that problem
