Loud rear-nearside wheel noise when tuning
I've been having a few problems with my car lately, namely the alarm and the handbrake but a new problem reared its head last night.
I find turning around right hand corners at speed (for example on roundabouts) produces a loud roaring noise from the rear nearside. I had the wheel off today to fix the handbrake and there wasn't anything obvious wrong. It is also silent in a straight line no matter what speed and also slowly around corners so it can't be a wheel bearing issue.
My uncle, who used to be a car mechanic, can only suggest that the tyre is scrubbing because it can't turn fast enough around the corner.
Any one have any ideas?

Wife complained about a rubbing noise, on our '07 x-type, when making a left turn. I could only duplicate the noise if the car was moving then turned left. From a stop I couldn't make the noise. Wasn't sure where the noise was coming from. Then one time after making the turn the noise didn't go away for a couple of seconds. Had an idea! Sure enough the power steering was almost empty. The harder turn caused the fluid to slosh away from the intake for the pump. Car under warranty so having the dealer check for leaks. Had some CHF 11 fluid so I filled it up. Jack
