Lucky with transfer box

Lucky with transfer box
After much debate, I set about changing the oil in my transfer box (although I was dreading it). When I was undoing the drain / inspection plug oil started to drip out (to my surprise). I unscrewed it further and more oil was coming out and it looked relatively clean. I decided to re-tighten the drain plug and leave the oil alone.
I was surprised at this seeing as most, if not all, owners have had little or no oil in the box.
I've had the car for 15,000 miles (105,000 on the clock) and the previous owner had replaced the gearbox (manual) at about 80,000 miles. I guess they filled the transfer box at the same time. My thinking is that as long as there is oil in there (and probably more that I would be able to put in given the current methods) and it looks in reasonable condition I'd be best to leave it alone.
I'm so relieved.
Changed the diff oil, engine oil, gearbox oil looked OK, greased the propshaft bearing.
Happy days

Yes, you are lucky! You ought to be good to go for a while anyways.
My Wife stopped in my local Jag Dealership (Bobby Rahall Jaguar - Wexford, PA) to pick up a couple parts I had ordered and she happened to mention that I was going to do a tranny, TC, and differential service myself. They told her they didn't understand why I'd do that since they are sealed for the life of the car!!! LOL!!
