Default Mass airflow sensor strikes again

2006 jaguar Xtype 3.0 awd 70,000 miles.

Okay, I have had this problem before. About 3-4 months ago I started throwing a code for the mass airflow sensor. I replaced it with an aftermarket one from autozone and cleared the code, A couple days later it came back on and then would go back off every few days. This went on for a week or two before I took it back and got a new one. I had the same problem with the second one. The check engine light would come on for a few days then come back off. I finally took it to the local Jag dealership and they confirmed the code and replaced it with a brand new factory one. For the the last two months I've had NO problems at all. Last night The check engine light came on and the code once again was for the mass airflow sensor. I am taking it back to the dealer since the the work is still under warranty. Any suggestions on what else it could be??? Help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

If you post the exact code or even better look it up in the codes PDF / JTIS for your car then there's a good chance there's a list of possible causes. Bad sensor is likely only one. Bad wiring/connector/etc probably also in there but you need the code to find the list.

That sounds like the connector to me. Have you checked it out?

Steve, I would be leaning towards damaged wiring/bad connector. If you pull the connector off, you need to look for a few things:

-all the contacts (both on the sensor and inside the plug) have a silvery color to them. Should not have a brown/rust look nor a dark gray, flat look to them.
-look at the wiring coming out and see if the wiring at some point makes a sharp bend. You can even take the wiring and roll it in the air using about a 1" radius loop. If a wire makes a very sharp bend at some point, that tells me that the wire inside the insulator has somehow broke and it is making intermittent connection (therefore giving you codes only every so often and why it can go away when you mess around with it)
-inspect the wiring harness for any signs of damage. This can be a cut in the insulation, the seal on the connector ripped, rub marks on the insulation, etc. If you are seeing copper, big problem.

If you need more assistance, let me know.
