Default Missing Piece for Vent System's Back Stepper Motor/Actuator

I've been having problems with the vent system in my '04 X-Type...air is only coming through the defroster/demister vents. So I found a guide for fixing the problem, removed my glovebox and started to examine the back stepper motor/actuator. When I removed the part, I noticed that the shaft of the actuator wasn't actually inserted into anything...the hole looked like it was missing a piece. Here's a picture of that:



Just to be sure, I took off one of the other actuators and sure enough, there was a plug there that the shaft fit into:

I've been looking for any information about how I can replace this missing piece and what the part number might be. I've looked through the service tech manual and can't find any mention of it either. Anyone have any ideas?

Default did you get this fixed?

my 2004 Is the same way. the air only blows on defrost. do you have a picture of the levers inside the vent system?
