MOT fail
X type estate 2005 2ltr
My beasty has just failed its MOT for a jammed seatbelt (middle rear) Never used it, probably died through being ignored.
I have the Haynes X type book, but the explanation of access leaves me wondering what language they are using. Terminology self invented?
Does anyone have any idea how to access the mechanism without destroying what looks like a totally inaccessible piece of car furniture.
Or better still, a hack to reset the mechanism without attempting a perilous procedure.
Thanks

wulfrun, If I am remembering things correctly, you will find two 10mm bolts tucked under the front edge of the seat. You need to get those out first. If you were sitting in the left seat, it would be about under your right knee and vice versa for the other side. Now, once you get those out, this is where the tricky part comes in. What you have to do is push the seat straight back (like you were going to push it into the area where the spare tire sits), you should feel it move back about a half inch/inch (2 CMish). At this point, with the seat still push back, you need to lift straight up on the front of the seat. Repeat for the other side. At this point, the seat will be free and you can push the seat belts through the openings in the seat and pull the seat out from the car.
Install is always fun because you have to figure out where the little hook is and get it matched up to the slot in the retainer. Not hard, but,it takes a little bit of luck too.
