Hi James

I'm not understanding, you installed the devise, have it running through the ACM right?

Why would you need an external speaker? Do you not hear the call through the radio via the ACM?

The stereo line-level outputs from the T605 only carry Bluetooth music to the head unit for output through the car's speakers. Audio for phone calls is available from the T605 via a separate and distinct monophonic (2-wire, not stereo) wiring harness that would connect to a dedicated phone audio-in line on a head unit, but our head units do not have such a connection. Hence the need for the separate speaker.

It's not quite what I wanted, but it works.

Ahh, that makes sense. My whole quest for bluetooth is for a factory like experience. Hence the hunt for a double din since there is no way a single din unit, no matter how clean the install will ever look like it belongs in the dash. I still think Dennises install of that Eclipse unit (with Bluetooth) is the most factory looking thing I've seen. I'm not going to pay 1000.00 for a head unit though. Could that be the main reason for me wearing a stinking bluetooth earphone?

Default Bluetooth handsfree and A2DP stereo install in XJR

Have you seen the details of my XJR install? You can find it here: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/37001
and here
http://j.roal.home.mchsi.com/X308Bluetooth.pdf

I use the mono line input from the factory phone to the head unit so I do not use that additional speaker. When the phone mute line turns ON, the phone sounds streams to the factory speakers using this phone line in. Works great. I intercepted the stereo from the CD changer for the A2DP stereo stream from the bluetooth.

I have seen that, Jim. Great application for the earlier XJ models, but it just won't work for those of us with X-Types (or S-Types or 04-09 XJ models). The fiber-optic system leaves us little choice but to add the Jaguar Audio Connectivity Module (ACM) and go from there. See

Adding Accessories (aux in, iPod/iPhone, Bluetooth) to the Jaguar X-Type, S-Type and 2004-2009 XJ

for more info.

I see. I sort of skimmed your article and now that I have read a bit more of it I see what you mean. I did install a T605 in my 2004 Volvo and I had to get an interface module for that too.

I just sold my XJR and I am looking to buy a 2008 XJ8L. Luckily that car has bluetooth from the factory.

Actually the interface module is just for the stereo. For the phone function the T605 also has a speaker output, which the phone speaker attaches too. I did an install in my Audi and Volvo where I added a relay to the drivers front speaker. The relay would switch the speaker from the factory stereo to the T605 when the mute line turned ON. That way you don't have at mount another speaker and you keep the factory look of the car. I got the relay from Radio Shack. Works well in both of those cars. The downside is that it does not actually mute the rest of the stereo so you have to do that manually when you get a call. If the head unit has a mute line you could use that too and then the full mute would work fine.
