Default MP3 or not

Just bought a 09 X type SE and collect it Monday. It has the Satnav and bluetooth, I was wondering if the cd player will play MP3 cds? I am not sure if it has a changer in the boot.

As far as I know it doesn't. Possibly worth getting an mp3 cd changer. I've swapped the head unit around for an mp3 cd player, but it doesn't compliment the interior as well as the standard one.

There are conversion kits on ebay for the stereo housing. However they're not compatible with bmi interiors if your thinking of upgrading. I'll try and post some pics in a while, but I'm sure most people will advise you to get a changer and save the interior. Make sure your kit comes with stereo and antenna converters.

I'll probably get an mp3 changer and put the old head unit back in when I've the cash. Plus if you get rid of the standard stereo you lose the clock. The clock doesn't show on my current head unit unless it's on standby.

Looking at your watch in heavy traffic isn't ideal when you're running late.

In hindsight I wish I'd put the £50 for the conversion kit towards an mp3 CD changer.

If you private message me your email I can send you the stereo removal pdf.

Cheers,

Jonesy

....ooh and if your steering wheel has a stereo remote, then you need the remote converter to attach to your stereo (if compatible).

Mind you my jaguar standard stereo didn't have bluetooth, but my aftermarket head unit is bluetooth compatible, so I probably wont change back just yet.

Smile Engine Swap for my 2001 S type 4.0

Well, this is good news! This confirms the information I received from a mechanic. He advised me to check the price on the 2001 LS while checking the price on the jag. The 3.9 LS cost is $1450 roughly. The 4.0 Jag is $2340. I'd say that a bit of a difference.

However, the technician from a reliable national auto parts store advised that he didn't believe the engines were interchangeable. He said that his computer indicates when parts are interchangeable. Also, I read earlier some where in one of these forums re: swaping out the 4.0 Stype engine for Chevy LTI or LSI.

Comments, feedback, input etc....

I have the same dilema with my 2009 X Type. I want to keep the phone and air con but I need MP3. Am I right in understanding that you have done it? If so, how did it go?

Why not buy the ACM and play your sounds via your iPod?
I've been using an ACM for a while now and have to say the sound quality is 100%.
