Nav Screen Problem
I'm having an intermittent problem with the touch screen on my 2002
X-Type and would appreciate any thoughts on what it might be.
Maybe 25% of the time, it works perfectly fine. The rest of the
time, although the display itself looks fine, when I touch the
screen nothing happens - it's just as if it wasn't a touch screen.
It seems to work more often when the weather is on the hot side if
that's a clue. Once it's working it seems to stay working at least
until the ignition is turned off. When it isn't working it
sometimes springs to life while driving along - I'll touch the
screen and it will be back again.
Does anybody know if there's likely to be an easy fix for this?
Loose connection maybe? Software problem? Or does the screen need
to be replaced?
Thanks for any help,
Paul

RE: Nav Screen Problem
You will have to take it to the dealers and they consult their
TSB's the options will include replacing the DVD unit!
Don't have a heart attack as the actual solution (worked for
me) is that they put the firmware DVD in and leave the
ignition switched on for about 20 - 30 minutes, this allows
the system to reboot itself and burst into life.
Seems a good idea to leave these setup buttons alone
unless / until we have supporting documentation regarding
their actual usage !
