Need Advice on Buying A 2003 JAGUAR X-TYPE X400 MY04
Hey Guys
i'm looking at buying a Jag but have no idea what to look out for .....can i pls have your renowned advice on this...greatly appreciated !!!!!!
[ul][*]Whats your opinion on this car ad below that i'm interested in???[*]And why are people selling their Jag's at the 60 000 KILOMETER mark ????Is there a catch to this???[*]And does it cost heaps to get servicing done ????[*]Do we have to go to the Jag dealer to get parts when things fall apart??[*]Whats the rate of wear and tear???[/ul]

First off, why are you asking about an X Type in the S Type forum? You'd do better
to post this to the X Type forum but here is what I think. (I have an X Type)

I belive means Model Year so is it a 2003 or a 2004? Does the seller even know?
ALL X-Types are ALL WHEEL DRIVEnot front drive. I have never heard of
a 2.1L engine either! There were three engines offered: A 2.5L V6 Gasoline engine,
a 3.0L V6 Gasoline engine, and a 2.0LDiesel engine. Perhaps the car listed is a 2.0L
diesel??? You want to find that out!
Yes, Jags can be very expensive to repair. If you can not do any work yourself, taking it
to the dealer is going to be very expensive. The 5 speed automatic is a Jatco JF506E and
is the weak link. About 4 or 5 thousand if done by the dealer to replace. There are a few
other quirks that the X types have. I suggest you poke around in the X Type forum and as
I said, repost the same question there. I am a new X type owner and by far do not have
all the answers. I've already had to replace a rear outer CV joint and the left side head light
connector. Mine is a 2002 3.0L Automatic with 53,000 MILES on it. Only had it 2 months.
