Hi all, I have taken my car to an audio specialist, but unfortunately we fell out over poor service, and I have received my car back with the centre console in bits!

I've put everything back together, apart from the cigarette lighter. I have three wires, and three connectors on the back of the lighter to fit the wires to, however, I don't know where each wire is meant to go. The wires are:

One orange with an orange connector;
One orange with a blue connector;
One black wire with connector missing!

The lighter connection points are:

One in the middle of the lighter (live I think);
One to the side of the lighter (neutral I think);
One to the night light/illuminator of the lighter.

Can somebody please advise which wire goes to which connector. I've rang jaguar for help, but they aren't prepared to help over the phone, and I have to drive 30 miles to my nearest dealer, pay them £45 + VAT to do something I am fully able to do myself, but only if I knew what went where though!

Sorry, I forgot to say it's an '05 X-Type sport saloon if that has any bearing on the wiring loom.

You could buy a cheap test light. Connect the wire lead to a good ground point and with the key in the On position, probe each connector. The connector that lights the test light is the one that goes to the center terminal on the lighter. Next, turn the lights on and probe the other two connectors. The one that lights up the test light will go to the night light terminal. The third wire goes to the lighter shell terminal.
