slayer, first off, welcome ot the Forums. Lots of good info here.
You mention that you have a 2000 X-Type. that year was not made. The first year for the X-Type in the US was 2002. So ,I am going to go on the assumption that it is a 2002 or 2003.
As for your problem, take a look at http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/...or%20Loose.pdf. That should have all the info that you need for your problem.
