Question Need help asap !!!!

Good morning Jag Family.... I'm in need of some help ASAP... I'm trying to purchase a transfer case from a shop but he doesn't know what year of X it came out of... he's replace the seals and all of the mechanical part he could... he's selling it for 550.00 w/ 6mth warranty..

all he was able to give me was the part number off of the casing which is
1X4W-7H470-D

I called Jaguar dealer and they said they wouldn't be able to know w/o the serial #

thanks family... I need to pull the trigger FAST... so any help will be greatly appreciated !

Have you tried doing a Google search on that part number, maybe with an extra search term to narrow it down - "jaguar". I did, and came up with two pages in Russian that contain that part number. From the Google results, you can use Google translate to view it in English.

This page:

Google Translate

seems to indicate that it's from a 2002 model. I don't know that I'd take that as Gospel without trying to confirm it by other means, but for now that's all you have to go on.

Good luck.

Be very careful with a transfer case of unknown origin. The link shaft to the RH axle [which should come already installed in the transfer case] has to be removed properly and gently during their rebuilding, to prevent damage to a seal in the heart of the case. If the circlip on the LH side of the linkshaft is not REMOVED BEFORE the linkshaft is taken out [or inserted], the internal seal is damaged and t-case fluid and trans fluid come together once the thing is all reassembled. Then you've wasted your transmission, too.

Just some friendly advice........
