Default New braking system

Hi folks scottpix here, just new to the forum.

I`ve just got my first jaguar, but unsure about the braking system.

My question is - is there some sort of sensor that slows you down to a gradual stop, sometimes my brake pedal feels hard and I cant stop exactly where I press the brake and it keeps rolling slowly to a stop, is this a problem with the brakes ? I read online that it could be a vacuum problem, id be interested in your thoughts.

Model X-Type 2005 d sport

Thanks

Scott

Based on your description, it may be a non-functioning booster or other issues with one or more calipers. Did it pass MOT?

The brake booster may be a problem but I would first check the vacuum check valve for the brake booster. There is a line running from the top of the intake manifold to the brake booster canister. In between is a foot-balled shaped housing. That is the check valve. Check if for cracks or swelling.

When you step on the brake and feel hard and the car slowly roll to the stop; It not suppose to be like that in any type of car; 1st- may be the brake lines are clogged up, not likely on all four, 2nd- may be the caliper pistons got stuck, again not likely on all four but possible, 3rd- may be master cylinder got stuck, 4th- vacuum booster or vacuum hose leak, check all this out.
