I had my XKR corrected coated with Opticoat Pro at around 1900 miles and by then it had a few chips and wasn't perfect. My detailer went with a full correction and then coated it. The car was easy to clean and I could go weeks with just instant detail spray even on the wheels. One thing it didn't do as well was stand up to multiple corner "detailer" washes and the dreaded swirl marks.
This time I decided to (call me crazy) but get a extensive full correction(you'll be surprised) when the car was brand new with 42 miles and have it coated wtih a lifetime coating of Ceramic Pro 9h on all the exterior surfaces including the wheels, glass and brake calipers.
The interior is also coated with the Ceramic pro interior products as I've noticed these seats tend to wear a bit more than my XKR seats did. Plus I hate getting shinny leather, but that just me.
For anyone interested here are the results of one week of solid work on a new car. I'm happy with the results just in a photo, and I'll finally see it this morning.
It looks just fantastic, and I am sure you will be VERY pleased with it.
I had mine treated the same way for more than a year ago (but with Gtechniq Crystal Serum, which is a very similar produc) and there has been no swirlmarks or scratches what so ever since then.
Thank you, I'm really looking forward to being able to drive it more than my XKR and not worry about swirls, bugs and being able to easily wash the car. I live in a high rise so getting it washed is a pain, luckily my detailer is a few blocks away.
I don't think you're crazy at all. I've done paint correction on all my new cars for years - they can arrive from the factory with the paint in a pretty appalling state, as you may have noticed! I've never tried any "lifetime" coatings, but over the years I have found that a new car paint correction, once or twice a year polish/touch up/sealant and in between proper hand washing (me or a real detailer) maintains a near flawless finish.
It was night and day difference, it almost looked matt in comparison when it arrived... I took it by lunch with a a friend form the dealership I bought it from and he was amazed hoe much deeper and richer the color looked. It really pops now! Even had a guy in a 458 pull up next to me to ask what it was. That does not happen often

Don't you just love Ceramic Pro? I just got mine back today from getting coated and it is breathtaking. I love the color of your car!
Wow Max, that is beautiful. I wasn't sure about that blue at first but the more I see it, the more I like it. The yellow calipers give it the accent it deserves, and the wheels are Jags nicest yet. I don't see how you can improve this one much but I am sure you will try. Congrats!
Thank you, I was going to ask my dealer to change the order to black, but he insisted I get the blue and I'm happy he did. The color is really complements the car.
I have to say the ceramic coating is better than the Opticoat I had before. After 400 miles of driving the past two days, I just hosed it off with just water and it was clean. I had to go over it with a Microfiber towel to remove a few spots off but it took 10 minutes.
Overall I like the car more and more everytime I drive it.
jleuz1 I have to agree the wheels are stunning on the car, and I'm on the fence on getting the Carbon Fiber wheels, but the weight savings is to much to ignore.
I really don't want to change much at all the car is brilliant!
Oh and washing it is just to easy, for just road grime(no rain) you just hose off the car. The dirt just washes off. Then just use a towel like the guzzler from auto geek, and lightly hit the few spots where you see water, and wipe off any bugs, tar etc. It just comes off. you can go over it with an instant detail spray but it mad no difference. This is a big deal for me as I live in a condo with no car wash bay. Now it just goes to the detailer when its needs a through wash wtih the wheels off.
MaximA,
Please post the link to those wheels. The only set of wheels that I could find in that weight range that can be custom built for the F-Type are the butt ugly ESE wheels.
The offsets can be tweaked, and they are 12,500 a set but the hand laid wheels are 20k.
I believe you also get one free wheel a year if you hit a curb. There are other benefits as well and will check tomorrow. Not cheap but my HRE P101s were 12K as well and high quality wheels aren't cheap.
They can also make any style you like, they just happened to already have the molds for these and they were what I was looking for. There are also finish options if you don't want gloss carbon fiber.
