Default 16 battery

Hi..just brought home a '16 S coupe. Since I won't be using it as a daily driver,
I am hooking up a Battery Tender. I know the 16's have a single battery and I
have checked the manual so here is a dumb question from a new owner. I
know the battery is in the trunk, but how do you access it? I gather the best
hook up is directly on the battery terminals. Much thanks and I have learned
much from the postings...just not this.

No, no. Hook up to the positive bus bar and the chassis ground. You lift the trunk floor and you will see all of that stuff.

I just hook mine up to the 'boost' ports under the hood.. a positive one and then a chassis ground is near it.. close hood carefully and its done.

Sure, give me a day or two.
This is the method the master mechanic at Jaguar told me to use.

Assuming my pictures uploaded... this is simple.

If you can't park your F type for at least 3 weeks or so without the battery going low, you would have something wrong with the battery or the car is drawing power that it shouldn't.

Therefore, I use this set up once in the early winter and leave it until I bring the car out in the spring. I don't need to plug it in when I am away for a few weeks during the summer as it starts right up.

You have to me careful to close the hood fairly gently so you do not jar the clips loose.

Anyway, I was told by the mechanic that Jag's have a sensitive electric system and this is by far the safest way to boost or to trickle charge etc...
So whatever ....
Lawrence

Many thanks for posting your most useful pictures. I think that at this point,it's
a dealer issue. I bought the car from a dealer about 10 hours away from me and
had it sent in an enclosed trailer. The car only has 87 miles on it,so when the low
battery allert came on,I assume he didn't go to the trouble of charging it up. That and each tire was low by about 7 pounds, the inside had large amounts of
dirt on the seats, the engine looked like it had been through the Saharah, and it
will take alot of elbow grease to get the water spots off of all external surfaces.
I guess a car that lists for $93,250 does not qualify for a pre delivery detail job.

Do a hard reset of the battery control module by disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds. This will solve your problems.

The link above is a picture of my former car and JLR's instructions for hooking a battery maintainer to the F-Type. Forget what an uninformed dealer might have told someone.
