It looks like it has a modernized S-type nose with a jetta golf hatch. What are they thinking? You dont make a permium car havea hatchback. BMW stopped making it and i belive so did MB. So why start a failing design? I like the front of it but i hate hatchbacks. I do agree that it looks like an RX8 the funny thing is that jag is probably using that platform as a starting point. If it was a 4 door with a modernized rear facia and a trunk they would be alot better off. The R-coupe on the other hand is alot better. I like the coupe alot.

MB and BMW still have hatches.

I don't like the R-D6. I'd like to see an evolution of the current X-Type. If they kill the X and don't replace it though, I doubt I'd buy another Jaguar because the X is what brought me to the brand.

Wanna see if they do an R package on it in the 2nd year. A turbo or supercharged V6 with AWD in that car would be very cool.

It definitely looks sporty and I do like the overall look. However, I can't see this being a good replacement for the X. We boughtthe X because of the 4 doors, room for 5, and the huge trunk (not to mention the AWD). So if this is the replacement I doubt we'd be running out to buy one...apples and oranges.

Hmm..i didnt know that..lol..i thought with the new c-class they discontinued the hatch back. Same for the new 3 series bmw. I do agree that this would be a bad replacement for the x-type. If they make a sedan version i think it would sell. With the XF replacing the S-type and the R-D6 as an entry level vehicle and the Rd-6 Coupe as the performance oriented version of that platform they are still missing a 4 door sedan. I am glad to see they they arent straying too much from the traditional styling with these recent concepts.

it's the child of an rx8, crossfire and s type. I don;t think this is planned as much as being a production car, like the xf, i think this was mostly a concept. All I know is if they do make this, it gunna be FAST AS HELL

I have to say...having driven a Crossfire when they first came out, I was extremely impressed with the engineering. They handle like a champ! I believe they get similar skidpad ratings as the Porsche 911's, which was the goal of the design team.

With the release of the SRT-6 package, I think it's a pretty good bang-for-the-buck car. I just don't think anyone takes the time to make them custom. A black SRT-6 with a great wheel package and some AMG tuning would be a great car.

Back to topic though...that R-D6 needs some custom love too...but would be nice if done right.

I hate chrysler but happen to like the look of it in person...Jaguar wouldn't make another bad decision like that considering they are in pretty decent trouble as it is...I'd imagine some known customers wouldn't be too happy if they made that car...especially after so many were upset by the manufacturing of the x...that design was made well before the xf concept and the xf is already greenlighting to production...that was a concept and concept only...

I agree with you that a lot of current Jag owners and fans wouldn't be on board with that design...but the fact is, I think Ford Motor Company is looking to rejuvinate the Jaguar label by marketing to entirely different demographic groups than the "traditional" Jaguar clientele. That's a huge generalization, but they spend millions on market analysis, and the fact of the matter is...if they don't get more buyers, they'll have to drop them all together or close up shop.

I think they're looking to get into that entry level Audi S4, BMW 330i, CLK buyer crowd. That's what the Volvo S60 and S40 was about. Hate to say that it didn't put Volvo on top either.

As long as they keep making classy sedans and coupes with great performance numbers and all the added touches that make Jaguars elite..I say, let 'em make an entry level and get the younger crowd in...they'll all buy the next level when their budgets permit. I think every young person who falls in love with the new XF, but can only swing a payment that would get them an R-D6 would buy it just to be classified in that category. Hoping to trade up in a few years....

Hmm..i didnt know that..lol..
There's a B-Class Hatch and I think there's an A-Class hatch also. As for BMW, there's Mini to take care of that.

New designs are welcome providing they keep Jaguar's traditional design features w/o too much retro stuff involving

They would never make that car...if they did I might possibly sell mine so I no longer own a jag!
Ford may not be genius but I know they wouldn't be dumb enough to make that car...the bmw mercedes styles of that aren't that popular to make jag obligated to make such a hideous car!

Judging by the back suicide doors and FORDs ownership of both Jaguar and Mazda I would bet that this car will be built on a RX8 chassis.
