Interesting..

A 2009 X-Type that needs both front drive-axles/constant-veloicty shafts replaced?

Greetings from "across the pond" Matt,

Why do they need to be replaced? What did the shop/dealer/____ give you as a reason why they need to be replaced?

Cheers,
BK

Hi BK,
I had a constant noise when driving and I assumed it was the bearings in the hub/s, so my guy had a look, (who I trust) and said the hubs, were OK but there is movement in the drive shafts, more so on one side than the other, but advised me to get both done.

Just make sure you read in this forum how to do the right side one. It's not like the left or an ordinary car by other manufacturers. If you don't do it correctly, you mess up the seal in the transfer case. Then you really are in a mess.

is the noise a kind of whining noise from below the cabin while the engine is cold? it can be propshaft center support bearing then which needs a greasing, see below thread.

EDIT: just realized it's a 2.2d, this means it's fwd only, right? so this wouldn't be a problem? my bad if so..

SNG Barratt sometimes offers aftermarket parts when available. I would feel better about ordering from there, as they will verify the application against OE info. They've saved me some money a couple of times!
