Default New Member Thank You & Reverse Switch Question

Just wanted to post a quick thank you for all who posted directions / links for reprogramming key fobs. Just inherited (unfortunately) a X-Type and it was driving me crazy that the key remotes weren't working. Just a note that at first I was unsuccessful, then only one was reprogrammed, and then double success going through the steps QUICKLY and pressing buttons on both remotes. Both work fine now.

Now, if I can get those reverse lights working. Anyone have the part number for the reverse switch? The new ride is a 2004 X-Type, 2.5, 5-speed manual. All fuses are present and working and the bulbs are a-ok.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks jvegas. From reading the posts here I know it is down and back from the battery under some hoses. I located it no problem last night but figured someone may have a part # for the thing. That and how likely it is that that is the trouble.

Anyone have a simple way of checking to verify the reverse switch is not working?

I have an '03 with a 5-speed. I have to hold the shifter to the right side to get the back up light to stay on. If I let go of the shifter, the b/u light goes off.

Maybe there is an adjustment, but it is not a big problem. Just one of the little idiosyncritesI like about the car.

Does anyone have either the back-up switch part number or apparently, the "official" Jaguar part name? For some reason, back-up switch is not being found by the several dealer parts departments that I have tried calling.
