new purchase of 2004 X
Hey guys short time lurker, first time question. I am looking to purchase a black 2004 X, AT 3.0. In the past I have own BMW, Audi, and now SAAB. (Very Disappointed)The price is untouchable compared to the others. they are asking $18900 with 28,000 miles. Is there a good reason why the Jag is Thousand less than their peers? Am I going to be regretting the purchase couple of years later?

Hi and welcome to the darkside Luke, I mean amishboy...
Well, one of the reasons you're getting a good deal on the X is because it's really not that popular of a car...(sorry to say) Most yuppies go for the Beemer and Mercedes, but only the few who know good quality, sexy hot vehicles with great curves, go for the X type.
I must warn you though...be prepared to get singled out with phrases like " Oh he drives the Jag, he's got money"or, "hey sexy, what are you doing later" (preferably a young BB female saying that)....
I've been given so many complements on my X type and asked out so many times that I lost track...... and when I do get a compliment...it's like yeah ok, whatever, shut up, go away. lol
If you think it's the car for you..and have what you want.....I have 2 words...Get it. You'll never regret it...
As for problems....hey it's a car....will you have some problems?? Probably....but take care of her and she'll do her best not to let you down....

I'd have to say that I like my car a lot. I didn't think I would when I first got it. I was looking at getting another Lexus to park next to my current Lexus.
I found the Jag and it was a great deal! Racer is correct though, people will think you won the lottery. You will get more compliments than you think! I was REALLY suprised how many people compliment my car ANYWHERE I go.
As far as getting women with it..well, I haven't confirmed that yet
I think the car is pretty dang reliable. Jag went with a very simplex design with this car and used tried and trued parts. It would be nice if there were more Jag dealers to service the car. I have to drive 3 hours in one of two directions to get OEM Jag services.
I think that the X-type is more reliable than a Bimmer or a MB. Jag. can't even come close to Lexus as far as quality and reliability(but hey, not much does)
I agree with Racer, get it! How equipt is it though?

thanks for the quick responses. It has grey leather,AT,sunroof all of the most common features. I dont believe it has the upgraded sound system. I have been looking for one since this summer and agree with everyone else that I love the look of it over the (other's). The timing is right, so I should go ahead and just commit. It took me 35 years to commit to one women, so I guess 7 months isn't to bad...

Hey Amishboy,
All of the above comments are sooo true.
The X is a sexy lookin car and gets loads of comments as I can atest to.
Jeez, when I got mine, I was on to my boss a while later and it came up in conversation - I swear there was a 5 second gap in the conversation ( like - how can you afford one of those0
The wife loves it as she gets attention everywhere she goes.
In short - as racer says - its a car and you will have problems, thats part n parcal of owning a car, nothin too serious though if you take ur time and do ur homework and get a good one with all the service history and receipts.
