New X-Type owner
I wanted to introduce myself being the new owner of a 2005 X-Type sedan. I am active on the X27 and X100 forums owning a number of each.
I found myself needing a new everyday car after a careless driver shorted a turn and ran into the front of my 2000 XK8 coupe. The car was completely sorted and is now at a point beyond what I want to deal with. SO, my wife and I went to look at new cars. After being told there is a $ 1,000.00 surcharge because of the car shortage, we left, and I resolved to get one of my other vehicles sorted quickly to provide myself with transportation.
I have a habit of occasionally looking through craigslist mainly to see if I can find some cheap parts for one of my projects. Low and behold, I come across a 2005 X-Type with 31,900 miles on it. I do some research and had recollections of a fairly extensive article about the X-Type in The Jaguar Journal some time ago. Everything seemed to say check it out. I called the fellow listing it and set up a meeting yesterday. The car turned out to be as advertised, even better. It is immaculate. The underside shows no sign of being driven. I'm told it has never seen snow and only seen rain on a few occasions. I test drove it and decided during the drive to buy it. We struck a deal and I'm picking it up Saturday. I am so glad the dealer had the surcharge. Now instead of spending a substantial amount of money for a compact SUV Crossover I am spending 25% of that number for a basically new X-Type.
From my research I believe my wife and I are going to have 10 or 15 years of pleasure from this "new" to us car.
