Default New X-Type owner here!

I've been looking for a Sport Wagon for quite a while and finally found one. Needs a little bit of work but not bad only has 90k on it which is good for its age I guess. I've only seen one on the road in the past few years I guess these things are fairly rare... Glad to have this forum to learn more about them and help me with some repairs it needs!!!

The Sportwagon IS rare - but it is a great car. I have had mine for 10 trouble-free years. You'll love it - it looks to be in great condition..
The only thing that would make it better would be to have the manual transmission version -which was not sent to Canada or the US.
Canadian sales began with the 2004 model year, and the US sales with the 2005 model year. The 2004 cars for Canada came with the same interior and exterior trim (no chrome, different seats, different wheels, firmer suspension) as the Sport sedan; the 2005 and subsequent years had the same trim and suspension settings ("Comfort" suspension) as the regular sedan version:

Viper, you have come to the right place. The big issues people have with the X-TYpes is going to be vacuum leaks. That seems to be the achelles heal of this car. But, they are normally very easy to find and fix. After that, keep an eye on the rear suspension. When things start to wear, you will see the tire wire start to really take off. Replacing parts is easy and you may want to look up the "Thermo arm". Especially if you plan on putting some weight in the back, that will make tire wear be very minimal.

Damn, that looks nice!
I only have my saloon about 6 months, same colour but the facelift version. They're a great car but mine has almost become a bit mundane to me because it's my own.. until I see one like yours and then suddenly I think they look lovely again! I would like a Sportwagon instead of a saloon though.
Mine only has about 50,000 miles on the clock, registered in 2010. It had a few issues but I nearly snapped the dealer's hand off when I saw it advertised for less than €2000.

If only you didn't drive on the wrong side, I would've bought it and shipped here for that price. Plus cool diesels are rare in the states

Good looking car. The sport wagon was not sold at all in Australia.

Welcome, Alex,

It is great to have another Buckeye with an X-Type who also likes to crank wrenches.

I would have stopped by to help if I had known you were doing this job. The on-the-job experience would have helped me with my coming project. This spring I need to put a clutch in my Cat. I have my lift and trans jack ready but being 40 years older than you I know I will be working much much slower. hehehehe

I already picked up a few tricks from your photos. Great work!! Thanks.

I may be buying you a beer to pick up some inside before I do my project.
