Default No more X-Types!

Latest word has it that Jaguar has decided to stop production of the X-Type at Halewood prior to the end of this year. Although it doesn't directly effect us here in the US since we didn't get the latest issue, the X-Type will dropped from the line a bit earlier than expected to reduce operating costs and overhead. Over 300 working at the plant will be effected too.

We knew it was coming. I hope they take the money they save and start working on a compact sport sedan to slot below the XF. I love my Milan because it has X-Type roots from the platform to the engine, but I'd happily trade it in for an X-Type replacement in a heartbeat.

I saw that on the news today. As Spartan said, it was to be expected. I'm sad to see the X-Type go. The new Jags are nice, but they lack a couple of things that the X-Type had and that made it valuable to some of us : the price tag, and the AWD system.

Even if I could afford a XF or XK, I don't know if I would buy one since I'd have to store it 6 months/year because it will not mix well with our crappy Canadian winters.

I totally agree with Sevren...harsh Canadian winters take a toll on cars even with maintenance however i wouldn't mind a range rover for they have jaguar engines ( correct me if i am wrong) and are suitable for a all year vehicle.

i am sorry to hear that - i love the retro style of my X. i hope they bring out a replacement for the niche that the x-type holds. it was their most popular seller after all.

on the other hand they might have to tweak the price of the XF down if they don't replace it to ensure they don't lose that market segment.
