I've been using BG 44K for over 10 years now. First recommended to me by a Oldsmobile dealers service writer. When he recommended it, he said that was all they used, they didn't even use the GM stuff. That dealership, of course no longer an Oldsmobile dealer, still recommends and uses it in their facility. I can tell you it does work to clean out the whole fuel system from the tank to the injectors and combustion chambers. And yes I am using it in my X-type twice a year. I don't know whether it's ever been recommended by Jaguar but I don't really care because I know it works.

BTW!!!! It's NOT a booster but a cleaner. You can check it out on BG's website.

I don't care what kind of fuel you use, I always use premium here it Nebraska that's 91 octane. It's the type driving you do that puts the junk in your engine. Daily stop and go in city traffice etc. We can't all do just highway driving in our cars or drive like we're in the Indy 500, although I see people every day trying to prove me wrong on this last example. So our engines will get gummed up to some extent. In these cases your engine can benefit from a product like 44K and no I am not selling it nor promoting it. I'm just saying that from my experience using it, it does just what the company claims it will do. Please don't cut down something before you have some facts to back you up.

Thank you. You post was most enlightening and confirms my own understanding of why none of these products would be of benefit to me.

Edit: It should be noted that the OP asked about boosting the octane rating of gasoline, not fuel system cleaners.

Ok guys, I put this today (SLICK 50) and decided to go with it just because of the price, not because of the reccomendation. I payed $11.50 for it instead of $5 or $6 for something else. Sometimes the price does not reflect on the quality of the item, maybe just because your engine rejects and responds to otehr things better, even much cheeper. I have prooved that to be correct sometimes. I will see what will happen. I bought my Jag. with 38K on it and now it is 92K. The whole time 87 octan gas. I never treated my car until I found this forum. Thank God ( I changes the T.C oil, differencial oil, spark plugs, gas filter. next is the the coolant and the transmition oil). My dealer told me that they use IDEMITSU ATF but the other dealer in Cincinnati told me they use DEXTRON 4??? Which one is right? So far so good.
Thanks guys,
Tony

I'm not a street racer, but I probably wouldn't be considered a "conservative driver" either. There's a reason I bought a car with a five-speed instead of an auto… Thanks again for the info.

As for the rest of this thread, I just found a very fitting smiley:

BGs entire line I would back up my fav product is there break pad black squeek juice in the break service kits. it will make the cheapest pos pads/shoes silent. I have worked in dealerships since I was 17 and its the best stuff on the market and I am a person that doesn't believe in additives.

As for the transmission if your not going to spend the dough on the Idemitsu K17 I would try looking for mobile or castrol multi vehicle ATF. From what I've been reading the new formula now is a Idemitsu K17 suitable replacement and it says so on the label. Suposedly the transmission manufacturer had a monopoly on the fluid until recent and now time has run out and the major manufacturers can make it too. Personally I am about ready for the service I am going to get a factory filter kit and call AMSOIL to see what they have available for fluid.
