Odd cut out holes

Odd cut out holes
Hey Everyone
I just bought my first Jag at auction! Woo hoo.
There are 2 holes cut into the front of the car. One next to each headlight and I am not sure why. I have attached a picture. Any ideas? I'm thinking about just patching them up and painting the whole body. Please let me know if you know what they may have been cut for. Thanks!

Those are your headlight washers.
You are missing the covers.
When the washer is engaged they pop out and clean the headlights.
Covers use to have the habit of falling off.
There is a fix in the forums.
