Default Oil in coolant compression OK

I am diagnosing a friends Jaguar X-Type 2002 2.5 v6. There is oil in the coolant and a misfire. He claims that the car over heated twice and the coolant level got low. After the 2nd time he says the misfire started. I checked the coolant which is low in the resivour but is very brown. The oil however is not milky. I initially thought it was a head gasket problem so I compression tested all 6 cylinders. They all read within 5 to 10 PSI of each other at approx 180.

Without tearing down any more of the engine I am looking for other possible causes. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.
