oil leak, pan bolt inaccessible
Oil pan was leaking. I read on Jaguar forums about the "Impossible" bolt, under the transfer case. Copied some pictures and took them to my mechanic. He drilled access hole through the transfer case, installed new oil pan gasket with added RTV silicon caulk. All labor and parts less than $500.00. His name is Mike Futch, owner of Liberty Auto Service, 2204 Liberty Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Telephone 574-931-2473. If you live in northern Indiana or southern Michigan and have the same problem, give him a call. He is very friendly and helpful. Pastor Duane
There is a way to drill a hole in the case web to access the bolt. I have done this with the permission of the owner.
We were NOT permitted to do this when I worked at the dealer but it is a way around displacing the transfer case for access.
The exhaust also gets in the way so be aware that loosening bolts and maneuvering things will be required if they are in the way.
