oil pan gasket arrived bent. Bad?
Ordered a new oil pan gasket for the engine. The box was in good shape, but the gasket itself is bent. It's like someone crammed it in or it was already bent and they just threw it in the box. The box had room for the gasket to fit flat and unbent.
Since it's metal I can straighten it, but don't know if I can straighten it properly.
So, should it have arrived unbent? That is, able to lie flat on a table top? I got a short time to reject shipment and obviously don't want to put it on the car if it's just going to leak.

boz, I would tell you to send it back to them and explain to them that when you opened the box that it was bent. If they say that it is fine as it, tell them to put it in writing and that if this gasket leaks, that they will send you a new one for free no questions asked. But, I have a feeling that they are going to want you to send it back. I have a feeling that no matter how straight you may think you got the gasket, it will leak if you install it.
