Default Oil pan gasket replacement

I have a 2003 Xtype 2.5L and it is leaking oil all around the the oil pan. I have been going around and I am getting very ridiculous quotes on fixing it. I have been getting all $500 and up and it only costs $40 for the part itself. What do yall think?

Have the same issue but my leak is not as bad. After going around getting quote the lowest I can find is $1,100. The reason for it they said is that they have to take out alot of stuff to get to the gasket. Specifically the gear transfer case box. So one of the mechanics suggestion is to wait for the transfer case box to go bad & do the work. Just keep on checking the oil gauge once a week & fill up as needed. The thing is the transfer case box is $1000 to 1200. He said at least I only have to spend once on the labor.
I get whining sound & the vibration is noticeable, one mechanic said it the T C Box. Saving for it right now. I think the $500 is really cheap...at least comparing from shop & dealer I spoke to. Good luck.
