Default Outside Temp reads 127 degress

A little befroe christmas I replaced the rear plugs, IMT o-rings, and intake gasket. The outside temp gauge never worked right to begin with, it was always 9 degrees off. But now, even when my cat is cold, the outside temp reads 127 degrees. Anybody, ideas, help, or where I can research the problem and see if I can fix it. Thanks

there was a thread a few weeks ago on this same thing. My bet is the tempature sensor is pooched but do a search or go back a few pages and you'll find it.

Yes, if the outside temperature reads WAY too high, then you're ambient temperature sensor has gone South.

It's only about $15.00 the last time I bought one form the dealer.

It is located behind the bumper and can be accessed from the lower air intake area below the bumper. It's held in place by one small bolt and you simply unplug the old one and plug in the new.

Thanks Seeker, that's what I thought. I wasn't sure if it might have went to another sensor or even to the computer then go to the heater unit. Funny thing though, I never touch it when I did the repairs, I did run my hand and arm along the fire wall. So i wasn't sure if I had moved or jiggled a broken wire, or one that was ready to break. Just some reinsurance, since this is my first cat and not sure of the nature of the animal...LOL

I see you are in PA too so the culprit is probably road salt spray from vehicles you are following. At least that's what the parts guy at my dealership said. They sell a lot of them in PA.

Head to the dealer and pick one up so you know exactly what you are looking for when you go to change it. It's like a 5 minute job.

It will also cause your climate control to act weird.....at least it does in the Summer months.

Thanks for all the good information guys. I'm going to go down to Allentown Jaguar tomorrow morning and get the sensor. For $15 or $20 bucks ya can't go wrong and if it turns out not to be it, at least I norrow it down to wire harness or something else to look for. Let me also say, with the snow here, everytime I look down at the outside temp, it does make me think I was moved to the Death Valley at 127 degrees...LOL Thanks again guys.....
