Overhaul Questions - contributions welcome
Hi All,
Brand new member here. Bought a 2004 2.0D x-type for £1000 last year and am impressed enough to want to keep it for a couple more years, requiring some work.
It needs new brake pads all round, and kits on ebay are £80 or so for full sets of pads and front/rear disks. Are these trustworthy?
One of the rear shocks needs replacing. Bilstein's come in at £140 for a pair. Is that good?
Next is the injectors. The engine's just had a full service and still running a bit rough, identified as the injectors. £480 plus vat for new injectors, fitted and tuned. OK? (Engine is on 80k)
Then I am thinking of mapping to get a touch more power and economy, if all above goes well. Any comments?
And lastly; the stereo in the car is old by today's standards. I want to replace it and play music off an internal or external drive, but also to be able to answer the telephone using the buttons on the wheel. I think this is a common problem. My car does not have the multi CD changer in the boot so the large Bluetooth converter is not a solution; I think there's a smaller one that fits behind the stereo, but does it work with alternative stereo units? Any advice on units? Anyone else had and solved these issues?
I'm happy to pay the costs above, just would like some experienced comments to make sure I'm on the right track.
Thanks
Stuart
