Default Oxygen Sensor problems

I have a 2006 Xtype,2.1ltr, ex Japan, low milage and tip top condition. Yes the dreaded bank2 oxygen failure. I have replaced two sensors, one from China and one from the states, both did not cure the problem. So I asked my brother in the UK to obtain one from a Jaguar dealer in the UK, Still the same, so with my updated OBD software I checked the outputs. they both were very similar, about 9 volts so this is why I have been using the car for many months with no problems with very reasonable fuel economy. But I noticed that after I cleared the error and used the car without turning the engine off, the error light stayed off. Even though bought from a jag dealer, it is a Chinese part. What I would like to know is how often when the engine is running does it check everything. With this error light I will not be able to sell the car.

From my own experiences, don't replace oxygen sensors with anything other than Denso parts. They always work. It isn't worth the risk nor the work it takes to replace them.

+1 to what Yorta2 said.

By the way....it cant take several driving cycles for the error light to clear itself once you have changed the problematic sensor.

You might find it does not return unless you have a further sensor failure (which can vary depending on quality of sensor you have sourced).

Peter, the car is continually checking all the components of the car. So, if the light is not coming back on, then all may be good. It normally takes say 5 checks in a row of having a problem for it to trigger the check engine light.

+2 to the use of only Denso sensors.I posted on here about when I used afermarket ones that were not cheapies but still threw up the codes Had to be replaced by Densos and out went the engine warning light straight away..Not really a job to be doing twice if you can avoid it.
