Default P1608 Internal ECM Malfunction means what?

Hi all,
As per other thread I now know what the P1608 code is on my X type. Sadly after an afternoon of searching I have no idea what "Internal ECU Malfunction" means. The dealer has reset it and will check it in a couple of weeks when it goes back for some bodywork trim that is to be replaced.

Should I trust them on just resetting? Is there anything I need to ask them or to be sure that they do? I don't want to leave it and when my warranty expires be landed with a large bill for a faulty ECU!

Thanks for any help.

Iiyama, as long as you have been taking it in for the fault before the warantee expires, then the dealership should still cover it even after the car is out of warantee (provided it is the same problem).

Iiyama, playing games with the server, not accepting long inputs. Re-read above.

Thanks for the response. I would hope so. But if I knew what the error code meant by ECM malfunction I would discuss it with them, with less chance of getting fobbed of.
