Hi there James,
you may want to post this in the classifieds. May get a better response.
I'd also take my number off there if I were you

I have the only dash kit that I have ever found for the x-type. It was from nexxia.co.uk and had to be shipped from England.

This is what it looks like:

It's Theoretically double din,BUT the top din slot is rather shallow. My clarion ProAudio head unit did not fit in the the top din slot, it stuck out about an inch and a half. I also think that a double din head unit would have problems fitting. Those that have had the head unit out of the dash will understand. Because of the heater box and the crossbar across the top of the dash. I currently have a bt car kit control panel in the top din slot and it works out well. The dash looks a little bit empty, but you will get used to it. The sound quality much improved compared to the stock head unit, even with the stock speakers, even though that is only phase 1 of my project. The kit needs some reinforcement on the bottom (a shim to keep the kit from getting loose). And you need a couple bolts and nuts from home depot to attach the dash kit to the a/c controls. You may also need to file the two pegs at the top of the kit that go into the a/c controls a tiny bit to get them to slip in.

The color match isnt 100% spot on, but after having it in the car for a while, you dont really realize it anymore. No one but me has noticed it. But then again it's my car and yes, I'm that picky.

Make sure you get the antenna adapter as well, it's not commercially available here in many places.

I have a few pics of it installed in the car if you are interested. e-mail me and i will send them to you as they are too big to post here.

You can also maintain your steering wheel controls relatively easily using a device by PAC, as long as your replacement head unit has an infrared remote control and you are reasonably handy at wiring. I haven't done this yet, but it's on the list for phase 2.

Hope this helps,

George
